Delving into the details of organizing and conducting a Quran Journaling workshop can be both exciting and rewarding. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or community organizer, this step-by-step guide aims to assist you in facilitating an enriching and enjoyable experience to host your own Quran Journaling workshop!
Alhamdulillah, the response to our Quran Journaling Workbook has been overwhelmingly positive. Last year, alongside a guide on Quran Journaling with kids, we released this resource. The enthusiasm and engagement we witnessed were truly inspiring, motivating us to continue creating themed Quran Journaling workbooks. These workbooks have been utilized in children’s workshops during Shahr Ramadan and in Islamic schools, further reinforcing the importance and effectiveness of Quran journaling for kids. Many organizations reached out to us for multiple copies of the workbook for their students. Please feel free to reach out to us for special requests!
Quran Journaling – what is it?
I have a brief description on what Quran Journaling is in one of my earlier posts on Quran Journaling for beginners.
Quran Journaling is an exciting way to engage and connect with our holy book. It can transform the way that you understand the Quran. With Quran journaling, you will find a creative approach to the traditional method of just reading the Quran without understanding the meaning.
Is it just for Ramadan?
Should we only Quran Journal during the month of Ramadan? Not at all! While some themes might be more relevant during Ramadan, Quran Journaling is a year-round activity suitable for people of all ages. Alhamdulillah, the Quran offers a wealth of wisdom for us to learn and reflect upon.
God has not confined the Holy Qur’an to a specific time or for a specific nation, and so it is new at all times and fresh for all nations.

How to host a Quran Journaling Workshop in 6 simple steps!
1. Define Your Goals
Before you get into the nitty-gritty of planning, take a moment to think about what you want to achieve with your Quran Journaling workshop. Are you aiming to deepen your participants understanding of Quranic concepts, spark a love for learning about Islam, or maybe just encourage their creative expression? Once you’ve got your objectives sorted, everything else will start to fall into place.
This is the Book, there is no doubt in it, a guidance to the Godwary.
QURAN – 2:2
2. Pick a Theme
Choosing a theme for your Quran Journaling workshop not only makes it more fun and engaging but also helps focus the audience’s attention on a specific topic. It could be anything from a Quranic story to a moral lesson or even something inspired by current events. Themed workshops not only make learning more engaging but also allow participants to explore a particular topic in depth. Be creative and consider themes that resonate with participants’ interests and are age-appropriate for your audience.
For example, if your participants are young children, you might choose a theme centred around the story of Prophet Yunus (Jonah) and the importance of patience and trust in Allah’s plan. I have a post dedicated to Journaling for Kids which goes into more detail.
For teenagers, a theme discussing current events such as what is happening in 🍉 *P* 🍉, could be as a source of comfort for them and help them to understand that Allah has a greater plan.
We get it, diving into themes and picking out relevant verses and hadiths can feel like a real headache sometimes. But fear not! Our Quran Journaling workbooks have got your back. We’ve done the hard work for you, curating themes with five awesome verses and matching hadiths that tie it all together. Check them out here.

3. Gather Your Supplies
Assemble all necessary materials to bring your Quran Journaling workshop to life. Think colored pencils, markers, stickers – anything to stimulate creativity. Don’t forget your Quran Journaling workbooks, which serve as valuable resources. Organizing supplies in advance ensures a smooth workshop experience. For more inspo on materials to use, check out our post on Layout Ideas.
Consider including additional resources such as reference/Tafsir books or electronic devices for participants to access Quranic verses and hadiths related to the chosen theme. Providing a variety of tools enhances the learning experience and accommodates different learning styles.
4. Set the Scene
Creating the right atmosphere is crucial for a successful Quran Journaling workshop. Arrange seating to facilitate interaction and collaboration, provide ample art supplies, and consider offering snacks to sustain participants’ energy. A vibrant and welcoming environment enhances the overall workshop experience.
Decorate the space with Islamic art, inspirational quotes from the Quran and hadiths, and colorful visuals related to the theme. Incorporating elements of Islamic aesthetics creates an immersive and uplifting ambiance, setting the stage for meaningful engagement and reflection.
5. Facilitate Meaningful Discussions
Encourage open dialogue and meaningful discussions throughout the Quran Journaling workshop. Allow participants to share their thoughts, insights, and questions related to Quranic teachings and the chosen theme. Actively listen to their perspectives and provide guidance as needed, fostering a safe and respectful space for expression.
Incorporate interactive activities such as group discussions, role-playing scenarios, and creative writing exercises to encourage active participation and critical thinking. Provide opportunities for collaboration and peer learning, enabling participants to learn from each other’s experiences and perspectives.
6. Foster Reflection and Application
And finally, wrap things up with a reflection session where the participants can look back on what they’ve learned and think about how they can apply it to their everyday lives. It’s all about empowering them to take what they’ve learned and make it meaningful. Empowering participants to connect their learning to real-life situations promotes deeper understanding and meaningful application of Islamic principles.
Encourage participants to set personal goals based on the insights gained during the workshop and develop action plans to implement positive changes in their lives. Provide guidance and support as needed, emphasizing the importance of consistency and perseverance in spiritual growth and development.
In conclusion, hosting a Quran Journaling workshop offers a valuable opportunity to inspire and educate participants while fostering creativity and spiritual growth.
I hope this guide on hosting a Quran Journaling workshop inspires you to create impactful experiences for the next generation of Muslim leaders and learners. InshaAllah, may it nurture their love for Islam and enrich their spiritual journey.
